does anyone know how to migrate word's address book address' from word
for OS 9 to word X?

Word doesn't actually have an Address Book. In Word 2001 and Word X it uses
the Address Book from Entourage 2001 and X respectively. In Word 98, it used
Outlook Express's Address Book.

So, when you say "word for OS 9" do you mean Word 2001 or Word 98?

If Word 2001, you must have been using Entourage 2001 if your Word Address
Book is populated. You need to bring over the Office 2001 Identities folder
from your Microsoft User Data folder of Documents folder, if you were using
another computer then - put it on the desktop - or if the same computer
just check that you still have this folder in the Documents folder on the
root of your hard disk. (That is, not the MUD folder that's in your specific
user's Documents folder. in OS X.) If Entourage 2001 is not already
installed somewhere on this machine, insert your Office 2001 CD. You don't
need to install it. Launch Entourage X in your Microsoft Entourage X folder
in Applications (where Word X also lives). Go to File/Import, and Import
from a Program/Entourage 2001. You can choose to just import contacts and
groups. Navigate to your Identity folder in the Office 2001 Identities
folder. That will import your contacts into Entourage X. Now when you open
Word X, you'll find them there too.

If you were using Word 98 in OS 9, your contacts are most likely in that
same Microsoft User Data, but in the "Identities" folder there. Bring that
over to your new desktop if it's not on the same computer, or if you're
still using the same computer, just check it's that you still have this
folder in the Documents folder on the root of your hard disk. If you're
using a new computer, you should install Classic from your OS X CD if you
haven't already. That should also install a copy of OE 5. (Or go download a
copy of OE 5 from the MacTopia website.) Now open Entourage X, File/Import
from a program, and choose Outlook Express 5. You can choose to just import
contacts and groups. Navigate to your Identity folder in the Identities
folder you brought over. That will import your contacts into Entourage X.
Now when you open Word X, you'll find them there too.
