Address changing in reply and forwarded emails

Most problems which I have encountered with outlook 2003 have been simply a
matter of not knowing the software and with ample research and reading, I
have been able to overcome them all, but I now have a problem which reading
and research has not uncovered a correction for, therefore I present it to
you. Within the last two months I noticed that I was having problems sending
emails, and they appeared to hang-up in the outbox. I began to study the
problem which eventually led to the discovery that the emails that were
causing the problem were either a replied to email or a forwarded email.

Close scrutiny of these particular emails finally have led me to determine
that the email address is actually changing by outlook adding characters to
it. Example is an email that is received from (e-mail address removed) when replied
or forwarded changes the email to ‘[email protected]’. The hyphens are not
there in the original email yet when you look at the address bar in the
replied or forwarded email draft, you see that they are there. I spent a lot
of time trying to determine what was causing the problem and now know that
this is the culprit. When I remove the hyphens, which requires me to double
click on the address, and copy/paste the good email address, the message goes
without problem.

Now I am asking for help in determining what created the sudden need for
outlook to put the hyphens in the address as it obviously was not a problem
in the past? If anyone out there has had this problem and solved it, I would
appreciate an answer, and if not, perhaps a technician for Microsoft is aware
of this phenomenon and can instruct me on how to correct it.

What hyphens? (that's - ) Do you mean single quotes? (that's ' )

What kind of email account(s) do you have configured in Outlook?
