Addressbook (from contacts) sorted by 1st name

I'm using Outlook 2002 and have had no luck making a
properly sorted contacts address book from my main
Contacts list. The problem is that, while my Contacts are
sorted by last name first (in accordance with the form of
the name I've entered in the "file as" field), which is
how I want it, the contacts folder created in the address
book sorts all entries by FIRST name! It's as if field
mapping wires are crossed during the creation of the
address book contacts folder from the main Contacts list.
I've observed that when adding a new Contact, there are 3
potential fields for name/entry IDs: 1)"Full-Name",
2) "File As" (which is what contacts sorts on), and
3) "Display As". None of these seem to drive what is
placed in the "name" field (first column) of the address
book contacts folder; it always ends up as first name
first and also sorted by first name. To make matters
worse, any Contact for which I have entered a FAX number
in the FAX field becomes DUPLICATED in the address book
contacts folder. Together, these two problems make the
contacts folder available via the address book utility
virtually useless. Thanks for any ideas about how to
solve these two problems!
