Addressing envelopes

I

Ian Wolfe

I'm completely bewildered. Using Word 2003 I get the addresses for
envelopes from Outlook Contacts. There I type the names in identical
fashion, ie Mr John Smith. But when I get the addresses in Word, some
keep the Mr and others omit it. In "File as" in Contacts, some offer
the Mr and some do not. Even if I type in the missing Mr it doesn't
necessarily appear in Word. What on earth is going on and please how
can I rectify matters?

Secondly I get Contacts List in Word to display in alphabetical order
of Surname. I cannot remember how I did that and I have been quite
unable to do it for a friend with the identical setup to mine. Again
any help would be much appreciated. TIA.

This is more an Outlook issue than a Word issue, however. The insert address
function (by default) does not include the personal title, so if yours is
doing so, the title is in the name field of the contact and not in the title
field. You can, with provisos, change the layout of what the insert address
tool inserts - see http://www.gmayor.com/Macrobutton.htm

I don't have Outlook 2003 to hand to confirm how to change the display sort
order of the address book. Ask in an Outlook forum.
