AddressLayout Issue--Word/Office 2002

I have AddressLayout set (I think) to return a contact's country only where
it is different from mine, i.e., when the contact's country is anything but
"United States..." The exact AddressLayout is set forth below for
reference. This works fine for me in Office 2003, but in Office XP Pro
(Word/OL 2002) every contact with "United states . . ." it returns the
country. BTW, I know there is a bug with this in Envelopes, but I am using
it to insert names and addresses in (mostly) Word documents and the
ocasional OL e-mail. Is there a bug here, too? It also occurs to me that
OL may not actually know that I live in the USA. Is there a way to let OL
know?

Insert the address where?
Modifying AddressLayout in Word 2002 will apply only to addresses inserted
into a document, but not to Envelopes or Labels. The KB offers the following
kludgy workaround:

I now realize that I was using the wrong "field" (if that's what it's
called). PR_POSTAL_ADDRESS is what I should have been using. After an
inexplicable false start or two it now seems to work just fine for entering
name and address in Word docs and also e-mails, etc. (but not
envelopes/labels). The "correct" setup (for my purposes) for AddressLayout
seems to be:

{{<PR_TITLE>}
}{{<PR_COMPANY_NAME>}
}{<PR_POSTAL_ADDRESS>}
