adjust duration

I went in and assigned my tasks to resources.
Then on the resource usage view, I assigned the time of tasks to specific
dates.
Now I would like the durations to get set automatically.
To tighten up the plan.

Is there a way to automatically adjust the duration to the scheduled time?
Without the time moving all over the place?

Hi,

When you change work (please avoid calling everything "time" that gets
confusing) for the assignments in a Usage View (sorry the Resource Usage
view does not show tasks, but assignments), durations of the tasks are
recalculated automatically, at least when in Tools, Options, Calculation,
"Upating Task Startus updates resource status" is ON.

One other point may help you. Work=Duration x Units%
If you want to keep the work fixed, you can always set the task type to
Fixed Work. This way, if you change the duration, the work will remain
stable.
