adjusting colors in jpg image

i received this message which relates to office 2000. how do i do the same in picture viewer in office 2003? is there another office 2003 application that i should use instead?

the message:
You need to open the images up in Microsoft photo editor. Click on the
yellow sun/star icon. A window will pop up allowing you to adjust the
"gamma" settings. Slide this button across to the right. It will lighten up
the image.

Do you have the Picture Manager? Double-click the image in the manager, on the right
click edit, brightness and contrast. You can do this in most Paint programs, you can
lighten an image in Word and Publisher as well.
