Adjusting column width with merged cells

I have a table that started with 5 columns. I then merged all the cells in
alternate rows. The resulting table has a structure such that all even
numbered rows have a single cell (column) and all odd numbered rows have 5
cells. I want to adjust the widths of the columns in all the odd numbered
rows all at the same time, but all I have been able to do is adjust the
cells in each row individually - quite time consuming! Is there any way to
adjust them all at once?

The only suggestion I can think of is to use the Repeat function (Ctrl+Y) to
adjust the odd numbered rows.
