admin install point

I have an office admin install that contains various patches/updates and SP1.
SP2 is now out, is there a way that the clients can be simply updated or does
it have to actually reinstall the whole app in order to apply the sp2 version
of the install point?

There are several scenarios you can use for updating clients,
but where you've updated the Admin Point to SP1 and then updated
the clients from there, changing the update method for SP2 might
produce some unpredictable results.

Anything for GPO installs? It seems all I can do is patch the current admin
install, but it seems that does an uninstall and then a reinstall or am I
wrong on my assumptions.
