Admin Projects in the Cube?

Hello All,

Are administrative projects excluded from the OLAP cube?

If so, why and is there a way to ensure they are?

By default, data from Administrative projects does not appear in the OLAP
cube and Portfolio Analyzer views. I am not exactly sure of the reason why
this is, but I suspect it is because Microsoft assumed that Administrative
projects would only be used to track NONWORKING time, while regular projects
are used to track WORKING time. I could be wrong, but it is just my hunch
at this point. What do you think?

If you need to use an Administrative project to track working time, such as
for situations where you want to track unplanned working time, you should
use a regular project that functions like an Administrative project for this
purpose. This way, the information in that project will show up in the OLAP
cube. Hope this helps.

Admin projects do appear in the cube. I don't know whether this was an
issue in the past but clearly it is an essential element of actuals
reporting and currently works for me. Are your admin projects
publishing correctly?

Mike --

I cannot confirm the behavior you are describing. Yes, my admin project is
publishing without errors, but I do not see it as available in Portfolio
Analyzer views. By chance, are you using regular projects as administrative
projects? I created my administrative project using the default
Administrative Time enterprise template. Let us know.

Bob, Mike, and all --

I made a mistake in my original response to Bob and in my followup response
to Mike, and I want to apologize right now for wasting anyone's time in the
process. My original answer to Bob was only half right. When you create an
administrative project initially, there is no Work assigned to any resource,
therefore the administrative project does NOT show up in the OLAP cube and
Portfolio Analyzer views. However, when a resource submits planned Work or
Actual Work in an administrative project, the project DOES appear in the
OLAP cube the next time the cube rebuilds and in Portfolio Analyzer views as
a result. Again, please accept my apologies for the mistake. Hope this
clarification helps.
