Administartive Projects

I have created an Administrative Project which is used for non-project
related activities, the question is how to setup the project so that
the resource manager gets the request. I have read that if the
resource manager opens the administrative project and chooses to
republish the assignments (with the option to become the manager for
the assignments) he/she will get the request. I see how this works if
all resources report to the same resource manager, but how does it work
if the resources report to different resource managers? How does the
RBS structure contribute to this?

Help would be much appreciated.

Each resource manager should do the following steps:

1. Open the project in question
2. Click View - Resource Sheet
3. Using the Control key, select the resources that he/she manages
4. Click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments
5. Select the "Become the manager for these assignments"
6. Click OK
7. Save and close the project

Hope this helps.

Hi SPM,

If the resources report to different resource managers you still will have
to use the same function, 'Republish assignments' from the Collaboration
menu. Instead of republishing the entire project you will have to pre-select
the specific tasks the currently logged-on user should become manager of. To
do this select 'selected items' from the 'Republish assignments for ...'
drop-down list. You will have to do this with each resource manager's account.
Alternatively you could use 'current view' from the drop-down to become
manager of all assignments that are currently displayed in the background.

Unfortunately with Project Server 2003 the RBS structure does not helps us
here...
Maybe you want to think about creating individual administrative projects
based on your RBS. Although the number of projects will increase it will
probably be a lot easier to manage.

Hope this helps...
