We have Office 2000 Professional installed as an administrative installation
point. Applied all the updates and installed on client machines. When a
client checks for an Office update from the Office update website it shows
that SP3 in needed. I thought I would just reinstall SP3 on the installation
point but when I try I get the following error...
The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer Service
because the program to be installed may be missing or the upgrade patch may
update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be
updated exist on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.
The file I downloaded was o2ksp3a.exe and the msp file I'm trying to reapply
is mainsp3ff.msp. This is the same file I applied when I created the
installation point.
Is this just a bug in the Office update website or is there something I
could to resolve this?
