Administrative Installtion Point

When I go to Miscroft Office Update I get the following message.

NOTE: Detection shows that Office products on your computer have been
updated by your Office product administrator from the administrative
installation point on a server. This means that you should not update Office
products yourself. If you are an Office product administrator, please visit
the Office Resource Kit for more information.

How can I disable the need to update and install from a "Adminstrative
Installation Point"?

Thanks,
BWD

Hi, Big Wave Dave,

What version of Office and Windows? Was it pre-installed by a computer
manufacturer, or was it installed and updated from some other administrative
installation point (AIP)? Do you have access to that AIP?

Susan,

Computer has Windows XP and Office 2003. The laptop is a Dell Computer
originally owned by Dell computer and donated to a foundation that my wife
works for. MS Office was not on the machine when we got it but I assume it
had been previously installed and then uninstalled before the donation. We
installed Office 2003 on the machine after we recieved it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ah--so the AIP may have been used to install the previous version of Office,
and because Office Update tries to update all installed versions at the same
time, it can be confusing for troubleshooting.

Check the Windows Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs and see if there are
any previous versions of Office family products installed and remove them.
That would include Publisher, FrontPage, as well as the Office suite.

See if that resolves the issue--if not, post back.
