Administrative Projects - Processing Timesheet Updates - Message

Hi,

My area uses the Administrative project structure for non-working time
activities. When the projects werre first setup, we used the Admin template
that comes with Microsoft Project Pro 2003, only assigned resources to the
tasks, didn't change duration, task type, or any of the other fields. I
realize that the standard Task Type is "Fixed Duration". However, frequently
when processing timesheet updates, the project owner will get the message of
" The resource is assigned outside the original dates for task xxx in project
yyy. The duration of this fixed-duration task will change to accommodate the
resource assignment." Is there anything that can be done when setting up an
Admin type project or afterwards that would eliminate getting this message
during the timesheet update process? You always have to babysit the system
and press OK with these messages. We like having the ability of not
scheduling work effort on these types of activities and therefore, like to
use the Admin project type except for having this nuisance message always
appear. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated!!

I'm afraid the nuisance is the default behavior of using Administrative
projects in Project Server 2003. My best advice is to tell your PM's to
live with it. Sorry.
