Administrative right to run office ?

Hi,

We got a new office which is running Windows2000 on both servers and
workstations. All the computers have joined the domain and most workstation
users will only have normal user right on the workstations. When the users
logged on the domain using the domain account, and try to run Office2000,
there was a prompt state that something like "no valid source ......", this
load will loop and loop. Office applications can be run after serveral
cancel clicks, but his is annoying, I place the original installation CD in
it but it won't load.

Another way is to grant the user local administrator right on that machine
and Office loaded for something, then it runs happily, then I can pull
him/her out from the local administrator group.

But for any other subsequent user logon the same machine, the samething
happen unless I grant him/her for the administrative right to run Office for
the 1st time.

Any hints and links will be greatly appriciate!

You should run MSI with "elevated" priviliges.

Hello, Can't wait to hear some solution to your problem.
We have one PII 450 machine on W2K that we have running
Office2K loaded as an Admin that asks for a fresh install
every time we log on and then refuses to accept the
install.

It will run as Admin, but not as a local user. It was
loaded to run as Admin, as were all our other 18 machines,
so this little puppy just vexes us. We try and try, but
she just won't give in.

Any ideas you get will surely help us.
