Administrators unable to Adjust Actuals

Hi,

The default method in my organization for reporting progress on tasks in
Project Web Access is set to:

• Hours of work done per day or per week

However, no Admin is able to adjust actuals. The resource tasks show up but
the boxes to enter either actual work or % complete are un-editable. I’ve
verified we have the permissions to Adjust Actuals. For security purposes,
we do not want various managers opening Microsoft Project, entering %
complete updates and republishing assignments. (Although I know it can be
done this way)

How can I enable admins (myself included) to adjust actuals?

Thanks,

Ho Proj_Admin,

Security in PS can be complex :)
The first thing I would check is, if your admin staff is only associated
with the Admin Group and not any additional group ( e.g. Project Managers).
If this is the case you should only apply the admin group to those users.
That should solve the issue. Let me know if it did the job.
Thanks

Hi Marc,

Thanks for your response. I agree that security is complex!
Unfortunately, I've checked our permissions in Project Web Access and
confirmed that the only group admins are associated with is "Administrators."
The group "Administrators" is associated with more than one category,
however. May this have something to do with it? Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!!!

Hi Proj_Admin,

check the category that is used for Administrators, make sure that the
administrator has all rights. This should do the job.
Let me know if is worked

Hi Marc,

The category used for Administrators most definitely has "Adjust Actuals"
included as an allowed permission. I checked again just now to verify but to
no avail; our Admins still cannot edit Ajust Actual fields. Do you have any
more suggestions; sorry to keep this issue lingering! Thank you for your
quick responses.

Are you using the Hours of Work Done Per Day or Per Week method of tracking
with Project Server? If not, you cannot use the Adjust Actuals feature.
Let us know.

Hi Dale,

Yes, this was our default method of tracking project progress. We still
could not use the Adjust Actual features, although it is included as an Admin
permission.

Recently (in the last 5 minutes), I changed the default method of tracking
progress to "Percent of Work Complete" because my manager felt that since
Admins weren't able to Adjust Actuals anyways, the resources might as well
update progress using % completes, which everyone understands better than the
Hours of Work Done Per Day or Per Week method.

I'm at a loss of what to do; if I switch back the default method to Hours of
Work Done Per Day or Week, there is no guarantee Adjust Actuals will work
because it didn't before...Any final thoughts? Thank you again,
Alicia
