Adobe Acrobat pdfmaker error

George

I wonder if someone could help on what to do next with this problem.

I'm using Word 2003, and there's a well-known glitch with "pdfmaker" when
using older Acorbat versions like I have, which is Acrobat 5.0. The answer
is to "upgrade to a newer version of Acrobat, like version 7.0. I bought
newer, but was told to uninstall 5.0 first, just to clean things up.

I did uninstall Acrobat 5, and re-booted, but now when I start Word, it
brings up this notice, and brings it up again upon exiting Word:

------------------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Visual Basic [X]
------------------------------------------------------------------
/!\ Compile error in hidden module: AutoExec

[OK] [Help]
------------------------------------------------------------------

How can I clear this error message, before going on to install the new
version of Acrobat?

In Excel, it does the same thing, but the modules are AutoExecNew and
DistMon.

So far, it doesn't show any error messages in PowerPoint.

Thanks,
George

Hi George.

Close Word. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Startup (or
some similar path, depending on the folder office is installed in). In that
folder you will find a file called PDFMaker.dot. Delete it or move it out of
the folder.

Similarly, for Excel, the folder to go to is C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office\XLStart, and file to move or delete is PDFMaker.xla.
