adobe reader installed but not opening files unless I save toharddrive.

Adobe reader 6.0 is installed in my computer. I have Internet
Explorer. If I save pdf files to my harddrive, Adobe reader is able to
open them. But I want Adobe reader to automatically open the file.
Many programs ask me to install adobe reader even though I already
have it installed. My computer is not recognizing I have Adobe
installed already and a message box comes up telling me Adobe is not
installed and asks me if I want to install it. Please help!

You need to update to the latest version
8.1.1--http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
