Adobe Toolbar

I'm in the middle of deploying Adobe Element to all my users (1000+) and
have found out there is a problem with the combination Word / Outlook /
PDFMaker.dot / Word as email-editor.

I have put the PDFMaker.dot in Word Startup folder, but when Outlook start
first the toolbar and icon isn't available in Word.
When I start Word first and then Outlook the toolbar and icon is OK.

I can't turn Word as email-editor off, due to a policy-setting, so is there
anyone who could help?

Regards,
Jorgen

If you are sure you have the correct version of the add-in for your Word
version (check with Adobe) then note that it is normally located not in the
Word startup folder but in the *office* startup folder:
:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Startup (Word 2002)
or
:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Startup (Word 2000)

If I use this, I have to copy a new normal.dot to all my users, and many of
them have their own autotext etc., so this isn't possible.

Any other suggestions?

I have the latest version of Adobe Elements (Ver. 1.0) and ít doesn't matter
if I put in the Word startup folder or Office startup folder.

My point was that there are different versions of the add-in - however this
is not the problem.

I don't use Word as the Outlook editor myself, so had missed this issue -
and you are correct the toolbar is missing, but the add-in is reported as
loaded. Worse still, while Outlook remains open, starting Word from its own
shortcut doesn't restore the toolbar.

The Adobe add-in has been a naff piece of programming and I would point the
finger directly at it as the cause of the problem. Unfortunately Adobe does
not provide access to its code, so a cure will have to be down to them.

Other, better behaved, add-ins work fine and their toolbars display either
way.
