Hello,
Thank you for your post in MSDN newsgroup!
I understand that your clients using ADE file sometimes experience
intermittant freezes while typing text into text boxes on bound forms. If
I'm off-base, please let me know.
Please understand that performance issues can be difficult to troubleshoot
and resolve in a newsgroup setting due to the number of variables and the
amount of time required to narrow down possible causes and observe the
effects. We will assist as best as we can, but you may wish to consider
contacting CSS for a more timely resolution for these type issues.
To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a
look at the web site listed below.

If you are outside the US please see
http://support.microsoft.com
for regional support phone numbers.
Since the issue occurs when typing text info in fields, it is more like
client side issue since the update statement shall not be fired before the
focus change to another field or record. When the issue occurs, you way
want to use SQL profiler on Server to check the activity on the bound
table/database. Also, please make sure that other clients do not experience
the same issue at the exact time when you see one client encounters the
problem.
If you confirm it is client side issue, you may want to log on as different
user to the machine to test. Or you could clean temp files of the user
profile to test. Also, you may want to use perfmon tool to check if there
is any memory/CPU bottleneck on these clients.
If it is server side issue, it is suggested that you use index tunning
wizard on server side to optimize the index of end database of the ADP
file.

Note: The MSDN Managed Newsgroup support offering is for non-urgent issues
where an initial response from the community or a Microsoft Support
Engineer within 1 business day is acceptable. Please note that each follow
up response may take approximately 2 business days as the support
professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by contacting
Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) at
