Did you try looking up "advance field" in the Help? If you had, you would
have seen this description:
"Offsets the starting point of text that follows the ADVANCE field to the
right or left, up or down, or to a specific horizontal or vertical
position."
Then it describes the half dozen possible switches that tell the field which
direction and how large the offset should be. If you didn't include and
switches, then the field isn't going to produce any visible result...
This field is very rarely used. I understand that it was invented mainly to
make it easier to convert WordPerfect documents. In Word, the more usual way
to get the same effect is to use the character spacing and position settings
on the second tab of the Format > Font dialog.
