Let’s assume that tere are two text Custom Fields:
1. Project Custom Field named “Project Departmentâ€
2. Resource Custom Field named “User Departmentâ€

Is there any possibility to create Project Center View in which projects
will be filltred acording to below rule:
- Show all project where “Project Department†value is equal to current
logged user “User Department

Dominick:

This is possible using the RBS in your security matrix. If you have users
tagged with the proper department in the RBS, you can enforce this by using
categories and groups without the need to create a specific view. In other
words, if your security is setup correctly, this will apply to all views in
the Project Center and others.

Gary - is it similarly possible to have a Project Center view that is called
"Projects by PM" and shows only those projects that are PM'd by current
viewer of the page? Like if Gary C pulls up the view, he sees only his own
projects, and so on.

Would I use RBS for this?

What I want to avoid is for every PM to keep asking me to create a view
specific for them - it would create a huge list of views, be ugly, and
there's got to be a better way. This is all so that nobody has to perform the
few extra keystrokes involved in running a quick custom filter even though
that's certainly trainable.....

Brian:

The grouping part is certainly possible but the *dynamic* filtering is not.
IOW, there's no mechanism to filter for project owner = current user. You
can only use static values in the view filters. It is very possible to
develop a web part to perform the dynamic filtering.

Gary - thank you. I just posted the question anew today but failed to see
this thread (might have deleted my email notification that you posted too
quickly.)

I will contact Jennifer H on this - We own two licenses of your Project
Workspaces filter and I'd like to engage PSExperts to do the same for this
view.
