After 2 years, suddenly my Vision isn't genuine?

I purchased and installed Visio Pro 2003 in March of '05, worked
flawless ever since, activated fine, registered, the whole works.
Then recently I try to run office update and my Visio is flagged as
NOT being Genuine. WTF? There doesn't seem to be any resolution
except for buying another copy. How is that good for me? I've been
getting updates fine up till now. My Office 2003 SBE still shows as
Genuine but not Visio.

Is something up with Micro$oft's Genuine checker that I don't know
about?

From where did you purchase Visio? How much did you pay for it? Did you follow the instructions when the package failed validation to contact Microsoft?

Cha-Ching! Hear that cash register ring!

This is known as the Mandatory Upgrade. Anything that is not the most recent
version will have all suport suspended by Microsoft. Unless you go out and
buy new versions, your hair will fall out, your toenails turn yellow and the
words DOES NOT SUPPORT MICROSOFT will show on anything you type. Even though
you have a perfectly good program that meets all your needs, never fails you
and gets the job done, you will be FORCED to get nwe bersions of your
operating system and main programs every few years.

Want proof? Next time you buy a computer tell the sales people you want it
naked because you already have the operating system disk and all you program
install disks. It won't hapen.

From where did you purchase Visio?
An Internet retailer that was bought out by a competitor.
How much did you pay for it?
About $230 as I remember (it's been 2 years)
Did you follow the instructions when the package failed validation to contact Microsoft?
not yet

If you paid less than the prices listed here http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_g...rl=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=visio+2003 then you may have been the victim of a pirated or counterfeit company. Amazon usually has the best prices online and this is an older version. I would try to find your receipt and then contact the Microsoft Genuine Advantage folks to get resolution.
