After auto update to Office, it requires KEY but says key invalid

MY PC is set for automatic updates which it did recently again. Then when I
click on a documentt through Start > Documents, Office installer asks for the
product Key which I enter. It continously says the Office key is invalid
when it is not. It closes down this document for example that is Excel. I
can click on Programs > Excel and open the document. This applies to all
Office-type documents. I have had office loaded for 2 years with no problem
and have done updates before. This is for MS Office XP Professional with the
Home Use Program.

How can I fix this?
