After Entourage DB rebuilt why does it re-download old deleted ema

Each time Entourage starts acting strange or is very slow, I do the
recommended rebuild and compression of the DB and create a backup. Then the
first time I launch the newly rebuilt app, often 1500 or more old e-mails,
long since deleted from Entourage and the IP's server, suddenly are back in
my inbox. Almost all are duplicates of past emails that my still be in the
delete folder - and often were emails where I checked to remove from server
after the next connection. In the Inbox they are easy to spot (received
9.8.08, but sent 8.18.08, etc.).

This is every time I do a rebuild and it takes hours to correct - and then,
in turn the deleted folder ends up with a grayed out area and a 4362 error
code - requiring yet another rebuild with the same problem.

Anyone with a solution to this insanity???

It sounds very much like there is some deep-seated corruption in the
database that the rebuild is not correcting completely. The fact that
you have to keep doing rebuilds is not normal - an occasional rebuild
may be required, but it should not be a common experience.

It may be time to create a new identity and migrate your stuff over.
