after mail merge Word opens without any toolbars or pulldown menus

Using Word 2003 to create form letter with my law office managemen
program. They can't fix the problem. When word creates a new documen
(mail merge), the new document opens without any toolbars or pull dow
menus. Only the Ctrl and F keys work (i.e. Ctrl-P will print document
but that is the only way). Have others run into this problem. An
suggestions for a solution
