After reinstall, field codes fail in Word X for Mac

I recently re-installed Word X after a clean re-install of Mac OS X
10.3.9. I also updated Office with Service release 1.

Now I find that functions that use field codes, like inserting
zipcodes or page numbers, don't work. For example, instead of the
zipcode on my envelope, I get:

{BARCODE ENV_ZIPCODE1\b \u}

Is there a simple fix to this, or is it an interactivity bug with Mac
OS X?

Thanks all,

You are seeing the field code source instead of the result.
opt-F9 is the standard keyboard shortcut to toggle between the two
displays.
Try help for the menu/toolbar alternative. I'm away from my 2004
machine to check it for you.

simple fix--it's just the Toggle Field Codes setting.

Daiya -- thanks -- fixed!!

I mean, thanks ***again*** -- I am an infrequent visitor here but
Google's logging and archiving shows me that you helped me with
another issue way back on 6 April 2005.
