Prior to reformatting my HD and reloading my system, I saved my PST
file off to the side. After reloading Office on my machine and before
opening Outlook, I put the PST file back in place (..\local
settings\application data\microsoft\outlook). I open Outlook and all
my emails are there. After setting up my incoming and outgoing
servers, I can receive mail fine. I can type in an email address and
send it fine. I go to my Contacts folder and all my contacts are fine
and if I right-click one of them and select "New Message to Contact",
I can send an email to that person just fine.
However ... if I open a new email and try to type the person's name in
the "To" field, it never reconciles the name with the email address
for that person in the Contact list. If I click the "To" button to
find the person in my Contact list, I get a dialog box that says:
"The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder
associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have
been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For more
information on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address
Book, see Microsoft Outlook Help."
Can someone help me understand what I need to do to get access to the
Contact list from a new email and have names in the "To" line of an
email reconciled against their record in the Contacts list?
TIA,
Robert
