After SP3, office update looking for SBERET.MSI - can I use XPPro

I have Microsoft Office XP - SBE. I lost the CD ROMs but can verify my name,
registration, etc. Just lost the CDs.

Downloaded SP3 and Powerpoint Viewer and now Excel does not open or
autolaunch. I have CDs for Office XP Pro, and Office 2003 but I don't want to
do an uninstall and install a new [learning curve] Suite.

I searched for all *.msi files on my C drive. Only some MSN9 files and Plus!
applications. No SBERET.msi

Any suggestions?

Hi Sharkbait,

MS Office XP Small Business Edition was an OEM only (to be sold with new PCs) edition, so generally MS doesn't supply replacement
CDs for it, the PC supplier can, usually for a fee.

To use the Office XP Professional Edition CDs you'd need to uninstall the Small Business Edition (backup your files first), restart
the PC then install the Pro Edition then update.

Well this sure helps explain why I cannot find the CD-ROM. It probably did
not come with my DELL. I'll let you know what I find out from Dell.
