After upgrading to Office 2003, file open locks up and won't find

I upgraded to 2003 and now my FILE OPEN locks up and I can't seem to get past
it. The system locks up and I have to exit. I can only open a file through my
regular EXPLORER system tool. This is only a problem in my microsoft
applications.

What do you think
