THis is very frustrating. Again and again the Save window is appearing and so
fast that at times it becomes difficult even to close the open word document.
Why is this happening? I have scanned the computer for viruses and trojans
and results reveal nothing. Please help!

It is very difficult to understand what you are describing. Are you saying
that the SaveAs DIALOG pops up and disappears immediately? What version of
Word, what version of Windows and do you have Norton Anti Virus (the world's
worst product)? If so, open NAV and disable the office plug-in option.

I have disabled the Norton's Office Plug in. Now the save window is not
appearing on it's own but the beautiful layout of word document has gone, (I
mean the side window where all sorts of tips and help appear).

What was earlier happening is....I used to open a word document and soon a
Save Document window used to appear. I tried to cancel it and everytime it
would be back in less then a fraction of second. So, whether you saved the
document or cancelled it, it was impossible to work on the document any
further. This window appeaerd so fast that it was not even possible to click
cancel the X button on word ile. Only way to close the document was
Ctrl+Alt+Del

Now after disabling Norton;s office plug in so far this has not appeared
but the layout of document itself has changed.

Thanks a lot anyway TB!

I think you have now lost the Task Pane. This can be manually launched using
Ctrl+F1.

However, there is a problem with the Task Pane caused by some Office (Word)
add-ins. You can download a small utility from the link below that gives you
total control over whether the Task Pane is on or off.

Thanks Terry! This was helpful and hopefully it has solved my problem. I will
confirm again after watching it for three days.

Warm regards,

Leo

*PS: I really agree with you that Norton is the most useless program in this
planet. What else can be done? With the equipment it comes as a standard
package and one doesn't feel like blowing money on yet another virus
programme. And who knows, it might be jumping from pan to fire. Any
suggestions??
