Alert Sounds

I just installed Office 2008. Entourage has no alert sounds. In trying to resolve, I restarted and the sounds were there. But they again disappeared. I restarted again but there is no change.

All sounds are checked in the Entourage and Mac preferences. When checking and un-checking the various alert sounds in the Entourage prefs, there is no sound.

When checking the sounds in the Mac prefs, the sounds are audible.

Sounds worked in Office 2004. I verified disk permissions. Any other suggestions to solve the problem?
