Align left not working

Firstly, thanks William Smith to your answer to my question about aligning
left, posted in the old group. I've checked my system preferences as you
suggested and cannot find anything else that conflicts with MS Word 2008 (in
fact, I have no shortcuts for any apps). I tried creating one for Word, but I
don't think I'm doing it right. What should I put in the "menu title" box?
