Emma:
Do you mean that only the first few lines are indented to accept the drop
cap, but you want all the lines in the paragraph to be indented?
Word's drop cap won't do that. You should try putting the letter in a frame.
Select the letter then click Insert > Text Box. Right-click on the text box
border and click Format Text Box. On the Text Box tab, click Convert to Frame.
Right click on the new frame border, then click Format Frame. You can edit
the frame to simulate drop-cap positioning. Set the Text Wrapping to Around,
the Horizontal Position and Distance from Text are important to you. The
vertical stuff isn't so important. In the Size area, set both Width and
Height to be Auto. Click OK.
Now format the letter the way you want. You might want to readjust some
frame settings.
Finally, drag the bottom border of the frame down until it indents all the
lines you want indented. That sets the Height of the frame to some number,
rather than auto. You have to adjust each drop cap you create like this, but
you can copy a frame and just change the letter and Height if you like.
I suggest using frames, because you can see them in all views, including
Normal view.
