Alignment problems when Pasting

S

Sarah

Hi,

I was planning to use OneNote to help me organize/store my guitar tabs.
However, whenever I paste a tab from another source (e.g. the Web) the
alignment is always off such as below:

|-3-0-1h3-1-0---1-|-0-----0---------|-----------------|-------------0-1-|
|-------------3---|---1h3---3-1-0---|-1p0-1-----1p0---|-----------------|
|-----------------|---------------0-|-------0h2-----2-|-0--------------*|
|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|---3-2-0--------*|
|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|---------3-------|
|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|

This happens even when I use the Paste Options "Keep Source Formatting."
However, when I copy & paste in Microsoft Word and then copy & paste in
OneNote (while keeping source formatting), the alignment problem no longer
exists.

I was wondering if there was a way to avoid this alignment problem without
having to keep pasting things in Word first? Thanks!

Sincerely,
Sarah

Could you include a link to an example web page that demonstrates the
pasting problem?

It's just a problem of the *font* used.
If you use a "fixed" font without "proportional spacing" each character
has the same width and everything is properly aligned.

Check the list of fonts installed in your system and use something like
"Courier New", "Letter Gothic", "Lucida Sans Typewriter". Just make the
tab abs assign the proper font.
