All Columns autoselect - can't select two or more

In a worksheet that has my company's billing information arranged by
month in columns, when I try to select columns for say, june through
dec to hide, as soon as I move the cursor from one column to two, the
entire worksheet gets selected. If I select only one column and try to
hide it, the entire woksheet gets hidden.

Any ideas? Very weird.

Thanks.

You probably have one or more rows of merged cells. Hiding any column
with a merged cell hides all the columns that the merged cell spans.

This is but one reason that, IMO, merged cells are the spawn of the
devil and should never be used...

If you have merged cells to center text, unmerge them, select the cells
and choose

Format/Cells/Alignment/Horizontal/Center across selection

instead.

Yup! Thanks! They had the word <CONFIDENTIAL> at the bottom as a merged
cell accross the whole range. Unmerging did it.

Thanks again!
