All Day event doesn't appear in both day view and week/month views

Intermittently, when I create an all day event (could be one or several days
in length), it may or may not be visible in different views. Sometimes, it
does not appear in the day view, but will appear in the week or month view -
and sometimes vice versa. Other times, I know I created it correctly, but
cannot find it anywhere. In that last instance, if I have marked it "Out of
Office" or "Tentative", sometimes I can see that color reference (purple or
hatched blue/white) as a background in the usually gray top bar, but the
event itself is not visible. Can anyone help?
