All-document error in attempting to edit only highlighted text

D

dailybriefs

Intermittently, edits I attempt in Word 2004 for Mac, v.11.3, will
malfunction when I highlight words, lines or blocks of text in order
to apply a change, such as underscore, or italics, or bold, or margin
changes, etc. After highlighting the desired selection, and applying
the edit command, the entire document, including all unhighlighted
text, also is changed. If I hit command-z "undo," then the desired
sections are changed as intended. But that requires an extra,
previously unnecessary step, and appears to indicate a corruption or
inadvertently changed preference selection that I can't uncover.

Please advise. "Reply all" if emailing as cc'd (e-mail address removed) is my
address ([email protected] is a google group I'm in, but not my
email.)

You have turned on "Automatically update" in the style you are using. Turn
it off again :)

Use Format>Style>Modify...

Cheers
