all folders appear empty in explorer

All my files are here, I can access them through the programs, but windows explorer does not load the files on the screen. The count of files appears on the bottom of the page but nothing shows up on the screen. This also uses up loads of my CPU and often freezes my system. This happened after I caught a virus, but the virus (troj istbar.k) has been removed.

This is the microsoft.public.office.misc group. You may
have better luck finding an answer if you post under the
newsgroup for whatever OS you are using instead. say
windows2000.applications or something. As far as I know
Explorer is not part of any MS Office suite.

I am using Windows 2000 Professional and Office XP. I don't know what actually the "my computer" "my documents" folders are called if "Explorer" is not it. Aren't these both also referred to as Windows Explorer? Whatever the name, these are the two folders that are causing me problems. Could it be a memory problem?
