Hi,
On 6/1/2009 something (can only describe as weird) happened to my inbox. "All" the received dates changed to 6/1.
After some investigation, I figured out that all the emails still on the pop-server were somehow "re-sync'ed" and the received date set to 6/1.
All dates on the server range between 3/2/2009 and 5/31/2009. All subsequent emails received after 6/1/2009 are at the correct received date again.

any ideas?
Thanks!

But if you go to the server separately -- not using Entourage -- and view the
mail, are the dates also 6/1?

To clarify, I asked that because in one sentence you said that the POP server
was resynched to 6.1 and then said the server mails were between 3/2 and
5/31. If they were truly 'synced' they would all be 6/1, so that's why I
asked.

Hi Tim,
Like I mentioned, all dates on the server (web interface) are between 3/2 and 5/31 - a total of about 272 emails. Before 6/1, the emails on the server and Entourage had the same receive dates. After 6/1, the server had the original receive dates and Entourage had the 6/1 receive date for the same emails.

I suggest displaying the Sent Date rather than the Received Date. If
messages are resynced, then Entourage records the new date received as the
Received Date.

For POP accounts, the Received Date is the date the message was received by
ENTOURAGE, NOT the date received by your mail server. As far as I can tell,
the date received for IMAP accounts is the date received by the server.

Ed,
I do not think this works for me. Over the last 15 years of using email, your POP client always uses the server date received.
Back to the original post -: Entourage did something weird and re posted the receive dates for some of the messages. I will have to dig further and maybe log a bug with MS. Maybe they will listen.

1. It's not *MY* POP client. I'm just a user like you; I don't work for MS.

2. If you check your mail regularly, then the date the server receives it
and the date Entourage receives it will be the same. Unless you get a
situation like the one you describe, you can't tell the difference between
the dates (unless you also look at the time of day).

3. My recommendation is to display the SENT date rather than the RECEIVED
date; then you won't have this problem.
