All incoming mail goes to Deleted Items Folder

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel
Email Client: pop

Build 12.0.0.0 (071130)

All incoming mail goes to Deleted Items Folder - I believe but maybe it's a coincidence - this only started to happen on a POP account after I had edited a POP rule and added another criterion to the rule

I have deleted all rules
I deleted all my POP and IMAP accounts - and recreated them - same result
I deleted the Rules folder in Microsoft User Data->Office 2008 Identities->Main Identity

And while junk mail continues to go to Junk - all other incoming mail whether it's going to multiple POP accounts or even my IMAP accounts, ends up in Deleted Items

Thanks

OK I solved this - it had nothing to do with my editing a rule and adding a criterion

It was - using the 'Create Mailing List Rule' from a Junk Message. Unlike Apple Mail which does a good job of allowing you to create a Junk Rule from a Junk Message, this analogous function in Entourage has some weird side effects.

I would be interested to hear the 'hows and whys' of this function in Entourage

You must have a rule that is moving the message. The most likely culprit is
the Mailing List Manager (MLM). It's very easy to set up a MLM rule by
accident, when you are marking a message as 'not junk'. The wording of that
dialog is ambiguous to say the least. Check if there is an MLM entry (look
for MLM entries under the tools menu) with the incorrect destination folder
as the target folder. Mailing List Manager rules run before your other
rules.

If that doesn't fix it let us know.

This is supposed to be fixed so it's not so easy to do in Entourage 2008.

You really need to update to 12.0.1. Contains several fixes.

See the Entourage Help Blog for some tips before updating.

Diane

thank you for your replies. I downloaded the new build on 03/11/08 which shows Entourage build to be Build 12.0.0.0 (071130), while other apps in Office 2008 are build 12.0.1.

Build 12.0.0.0 (071130) is the latest release I am aware of and fixes a number of issues - such as the sound set.
