I have been using Entourage 2008 for about a year now and while updating my mac today all my content was erased and when I opened the program it just had a welcome message as if I haven't used it before. I tried to find backups or pervious version but no luck. I did how ever find the entourage main Identity files with all of my messages, events, and contacts. So how do I import that information back into Entourage.

Let's be sure you aren't looking at an empty Entourage database. What size
is the database?

Examples of a blank database
2004 --> 18.1 KB
2008 --> 22.6 MB

You can't import from the same version, you simply move the Identity folder
back to the Microsoft User Data folder.

1) Did you quit all applications before updating?
2) Did you restart and run Repair Permissions after updating?

14.5MB is the size it gives me.
1) I did close all applications before updating.
2) I also restarted but did not run Repair Permissions after updating, because I don't know what that is.

You have a blank database.

Usually, when messages go missing it's user error. when the Microsoft User
Data folder is moved from Documents, Entourage will create a new blank one.
Virus applications can also quarantine the database and give the same
result. When a crash occurs though the files can be lost forever or put in
'lost & found'. Usually they are just lost in the ether. I've had the same
thing happen with iMovie files.

At the root level of the hard drive, is an invisible folder called
"lost+found". The 'lost+found' directory is created by fsck if it finds
orphaned files during the boot process, or by the user running Disk Utility.

In the Finder, under the Go menu select 'go to folder'. In that dialog,
enter "/lost+found" (without the quotes).

If there is a lost+found folder it will open, if not, you will get a 'folder
not found' error.

If you have a backup, you can replace your Identity or Switch Identity in
Entourage to use your backup.

Using Repair Permissions after installing MS Office or any application that
uses an installer is often advised. To use Repair Permissions:
1. Open Disk Utility in your Applications/Utility folder.
2. Click on the First Aid tab and select Repair Permissions
3. Click on the icon for your boot volume.
4. Click the repair permissions button.

Don't run from CD. Updates contain a newer versions of the application's
permissions.
