All Mail folders, strange things happening (Outlook 2003)

T

Tim

Background:
Outlook 2003, SP3 + all updates current, OS: XP SP3 + all updates current
AV scan (local+web based) results show clean

Task: Created new PST folder
Results:
1) new pst folder appears in all mail folders view--> expected result
2) expand new pst folder, ->shows deleted items & search sub folders->
expected result
3) use as any other PST folder, eg: move mail to/from or create new folders
within this PST folder-> system behaves as it should.
4) toggle between folders view (ctrl+6) & mail view(ctrl+1) and -> system
behave as it should.

issue:
After a few hours or days, the same PST folder you created above now shows
the following;
what ever you had made above --> expected result
New stuff as in "inbox, out box and sent items folders" Where did
these come from?

I did not add these. I don't what them! I can not delete these!
I have been using outlook over 12 years, this never happened before.
I verified on another system and this happens there also. Is also shows AV
scan clean and it is upto date.

Any clues as to how to fix this?
Not using any special "views or rules so I am at a blank?????

I can think of only two things that might add the default folders to a
non-delivery PST: 1) somewhere you made the second PST the delivery
location, if only briefly and 2) You specified the non-delivery PST as an
autoarchive PST long enough for an autoarchive run to have taken place.

I don';t use auto archive... Archiving done by other means (typical 10 DVD
4.5GB data disks) for all my data, email (about 20% of that) included.
I never moved the delivery PST, so that's ???
Also, this has only been happing forlast month or so, and no procedure
changes during this time, so I am stumped.
Worst cas, will have to wipe system clean and redo everything (just about
due anyways) but I was hoping to find out why so it does not happen again

Perhaps someone else will be able to suggest a cause.

Thanks for the attempt. I've posted at other forms and so far, it seems that
this "bug" has everybody stumped.... The only place I liked gremlins is in
the movies, not on my computer. I guess I know what I'll be doing for Xmas.
Redo whole system. If I ever find the cause, I'll post back. I'm wondering,
maybe delete entire mail profile, and default mail PST, then remake from
scratch. Doubt it, but hey, it's faster than redoing entire system.

Cheers
