All Microsoft office apps hang on save as

I have one user that when he tries to save any office app it hangs on save
as. He is using win2000 and office xp. He is trying to save to a network
drive. I have tried disconnecting the network drive but that doesn't help.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Dean

Two things to try:
1. Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows
desktop, left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect
any mapped drives that are not currently available.
2. If you installed Windows update KB885250 "MS05-011:
Vulnerability in server message block could allow remote code
execution" on the WinXP computers, try uninstalling KB885250 in
Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs. This update is
available as an individual update for Windows 2000 and Windows
XP, and is included in Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=895900 "You cannot save a file
from your Windows XP-based or Windows 2000-based computer to a
shared folder on a file server" for more information.

I can save other data from other programs on the network drive just fine. It
only hangs on all office apps.

I have a similar, but weird problem. One of my users cannot run the 'open' or
'save as' dialogue box in Excel/Word, when he tries for one of the mapped
network drives available to him. Local drive (i.e. C:) is fine, as are other
network drives. The 'problem' network drive is fine in Windows Explorer. I
have tried disconnecting, reconnecting to the share, using the same, of
different drive letters, have checked the permissions on the share (its only
recently started, so wasn't surprised these were OK), none of which have
helped.
Any ideas of where I can look to start to solve this problem?

I still have not found out how to fix it yet. I just have that user save
everything locally and then move to the server later. I am hoping when we
upgrade to office 2003 here in a couple of months it will take care of the
problem. Let me know if you find out any more info.

Thanks,

Dean
