Recently I have noticed that my Office 2003 (SP2) applications are slow to
open files. For example, if Outlook is downloading emails, I cannot open any
link in an existing email - it hangs until the last message has been
downloaded (I am on 512K broadband). If I open a Word or Excel document from
the Explorer, the system hangs for about 30 seconds, then loads the app and
the file.
Loading Word or Excel from the Start menu is still as fast as always.
Opening a file from Word or Excel is also fast. I only notice the delays from
Explorer (and while in Outlook).
Is it likely to be some registry issue? That's what I suspect.
