All office programs hang on start up

About three weeks ago all my Outlook programs started to habg when opened.
They dont get a chance to do anything they just hang and then I get a message
like "not responding".
Error message is Hanging!
Outlook does not even start to look for a connection!
I have reloaded three times and completed all the updates but to no effect.
Any one got any ideas!?
PS I am running XP home
