All pages of Publisher web site display in Unicode as default.

My web site in Publisher consists of a 4 page newsletter. The problem is
that all pages display in the Unicode encoding format in IE, even though the
default encoding is set to Western European in Publisher. Bullets display as
question marks. So do spaces and apostrophes. HELP!

This is caused by using an unsupported character or formatting. In Publisher
under Tools > Options > Web, change encoding to Unicode UTF8. Alternatively
you just remove the formatting or character, and keep the default encoding.

David,

Thanks, but that's what I don't want. IE displays the pages in Unicode,
and that causes the problems mentioned below. Sorry, I can't do without
spaces between words or apostrophes or bullets. When viewing in IE, if you
MANUALLY change the encoding (View / Encoding) to Western European, it
displays just fine. But you have to do that each and every time you visit
the page.

Part of the problem is that the doc was converted from a print pub. And MS
puts in reams of useless code when it does the convert, including a char
string with "Unicode" in it in many places. (View Source in IE).

If you want, take a look:

Click on Newsletters, then April Newsletter. You'll see what I mean.

The HTML has a char string that indicates that Unicode is being used.
