allocating resources weekly

I think my question is best asked by example: Given I have two tasks, T1 &
T2, and two resources, R1 & R2. T1 has 120 hrs and T2 has 40 hrs. Both
tasks begin on day one. I want to assign both resources to both tasks. To
avoid overallocation I would like R1 to work on T1 and R2 to work on T2 in
week one. Then both R1 & R2 would work on T1 completing it the second week.
Laying out these tasks and assigning resources either results in an
overallocation of R2 in week one or leveling results in pushing the completed
task out one week.

Can I change a resources allocation on a weekly basis to accomodate the way
the work will actually be done?

Thanks for any suggestions.

HI,

Yes you can. Select View, Resource Usage or View, Task Usage
Edit timescale to weekly
Directly edit the weekly work to get your desired result.

If R1 is only going to work on T1 you do not need to assign that resource to
T2. However, I think if you assign both resources to T1 and use the Task
Usage view you can edit the hours scheduled by changing the work for T1 to 80
hours and the work for T2 to 40 hours and then zeroing out the first weeks
work for T2 in the work table.
