Allow management of content type?

Robert

Hello,
What is the purpose of the option "Allow management of content type?" in the
List Advanced Settings :Issues page of PWA 2007.

I don't understand what it means.

Thanks for your help

That's more a SharePoint question, but it allows the user w/ that permission
setting to upload and change content types for the Issues list. I haven't
played w/ content types in lists, but that's a pretty useful feature for
document libraries.

You can create document templates, and upload them to the site, then have
users create them by just hitting the "new" button in SharePoint. Then,
when you edit the templates centrally, all new documents inherit the new
template.

I am not sure what the use case would be for lists, maybe if you had different
kinds of issues, and wanted to associate different sets of metadata with
each issue type?

Hi Andrew,

yes this feature is also very usefull for lists. It essentially allows you
to great different forms ( e.g. complex change request and easy change
request)
Hope this helps
