Allow Users to Edit Ranges???

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. I have a workbook with two
worksheets. On the first worksheet, I have standard p/w protection with
several unlocked cells. What I would like to do is grant specific users
access to additional cells within the worksheet. I list my ranges, add users
to the permissions list and select a password. How does the user unlock this
area of the worksheet using the p/w? Secondly, trying the same process and
not using a p/w does not work either.

Once you protect the worksheet and allow ranges to be changed, anyone who tries
to change one of those ranges will be prompted for a password. There's nothing
you have to do special. Excel will do it for you.

The user is unable to selected the locked cell. It does not prompt the user
for a p/w. Does it matter if the cells are locked and the worksheet
protected?

If you protected the sheet and told excel not to let users select locked cells,
then remove this option.

I restrict access to the range for certain users and allow access for those I
grant permissions too in a protected worksheet or workbook? Should I look at
a macro to perform this function?

I wouldn't use a macro.

Did you protect the worksheet, too?

Are the other users using xl2002+?

Yes. I protected the worksheet with say 15 unlocked cells for a set of users
to enter data using format>protection and then protecting the entire workshee.

I do not have a macro for this feature and all of the users in my test group
are on Excel 2002...in Production several may have 2003.

people can change.
